A New Dynasty

I can guarantee the Ozarks were popping off last night, the boys from KCMO did it again. I think my playoff outcome predictions have been the most consistently wrong I've been about anything in a while? Oh well, this game is a beautiful thing.

When it came down to it, neither team played bad, but the 49ers made too many mistakes and didn't capitalize when they were given opportunities. The fumble on the first drive diverted their trajectory of setting a tone, the giveaway on the punt due to a blocker's lack of awareness was tough, and finally the blocked extra point... brutal. There were many chances where it felt like the 49ers could have taken advantage and built their lead, after all the defense was doing (in my opinion) a fine job at keeping Kansas City at bay (no pun intended) for most of the game. But you can't give the Chiefs an inch or they'll go a mile with what they're given.

Kansas City looked to be off to a rocky start. They were nearly shut out in the first half, and the interception to start off the second appeared to be damning. Not to mention the borderline assault on their increasingly elder head coach by the star tight end; the emotions were clearly running high and nearing a boiling point for a moment. They ultimately found their groove and even if San Francisco would've scored a touchdown on their first and only possession of overtime, I don't think the Chiefs were going to miss again - their fate had been decided.

Patrick Mahomes is proving to be arguably the best quarterback of all time in just his 6th season. Andy Reid is cementing his name into the discussion of being one of the greatest head coaches of all time. How is it fair that Taylor Swift stepped right into this and never had to suffer like the rest of us? Oh well, I do believe the appeal to other, new fans that otherwise wouldn't care for the sport is a good thing for everyone.

In a year where it seemed like everyone's favorite quarterback suffered a season-ending injury, we find the victors to be led by none other than the man that is feared the most - a prolific, accurate and relentless competitor that feels just as confident in his arm as he does in his legs. The centerpiece of a successful franchise is clearly the quarterback, and it becomes clearer with every passing year that if you don't have the guy, you might not end up hoisting the trophy in the end. My Chicago Bears have a tough decision to make in regards to how they approach their selection or any sort of trading that they might do with their first overall pick. I think the direction to go is by taking a new guy... I'm sad to admit it, but I think it's become evident that the game is won through the air and you can look no further than this run from Kansas City.

Until September, we love you football.
