Are we… back???

Alright, I’ve been gone for a minute but I haven’t stopped ruminating over the possible scenarios, crazy as they may seem, that the Chicago Bears are, in fact, back.
That Montez Sweat deal was a pretty solid move, not gonna lie. Ryan Poles may have saved his ass with this one, controlling the line on D is crucial to let everything behind them really cook, and we’re seeing it by how well our two free agent linebackers (Edmunds & Edwards) are flying around the field. I still think a smart move would be to get a safety somewhere in the draft this year, but those are problems for another day. I’m pretty impressed with where Eberflus has taken the defensive side of the ball after a disastrous and tumultuous start to this season.
I can’t believe we’re having the debate of whether to move on from JF1 this year or not. Yes, it is fantastic that the Carolina Panthers are having an awful season and that we will likely be selecting first overall in this upcoming draft. But I do believe that there is a much greener pasture on the other side of trading down for another haul of players/future picks and trusting that the player that has voiced leadership, accountability and work ethic will grow along with the new pieces for many seasons to come. I really hope that is the course that the Bears front office decides to take.
I haven’t felt the buzz that I do now since right before kickoff back in Week 1. Win tomorrow and I don’t see a scenario where the Bears don’t feel like they control their own destiny (though admittedly I haven’t researched the possible playoff scenarios before firing off this blog). If we win out, assuming that we also beat our rivals in Week 18, I’m not sure how you want to split up the core of this team via trading the centerpiece quarterback. We’ll see what happens.
We’re going 100 MPH headfirst into this game in Cleveland tomorrow, haven’t been this excited in a while! If nothing else, we’ll see where the likely trajectory of the franchise will be these next couple weeks. Bear down.
