World Series 2020

The culmination of this seemingly ill-fated, often grim-looking shortened season has brought us the matchup that America is OK with. The young, severely underpaid Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Trolley Dodgers, who I have been closely inspecting as a testament to the minimal loyalty I have to the region I currently reside in, though certainly my favorite team.

Kershaw vs. Glasnow for Game 1. Heres the thing about Kershaw and his playoff woes: they rarely happen early in the series. Generally he likes to wait for the special back-breaking moments before he concedes the lead in terrible ways, so I don't think we're going to have to suffer through his classic meltdowns just yet.

I'm hesitant to immediately give a great prognosis to the Rays. They WERE up 3-0 on the Asterisks, but they did somehow also allow it to go seven games. Can't take away that they took that Game 7 from the cheaters, but its definitely suspect. Glasnow is a hell of a Game 1 starter for a pitching staff that I do believe to be superior to that of the Dodgers currently.

I think the key for Tampa will be to keep every game close and they have a shot. So long as they can limit big innings and give their often times anemic and streaky, sort of spotty offense a chance, this should make for a great crack at their first World Series title.

The key for the Trolley Dodgers will be to keep their bullpen in check and to let those bats fly. They have what it takes, but now its time to prove that they deserve to raise that piece of metal.

My pick is Dodgers in 7 and I'll die on that hill. Hoping we can squeeze out as much baseball as possible going into the dark months.
